Maboneng Precinct
Many of the galleries situated in the trendy Maboneng Precinct offer free exhibitions giving the public a unique insight into South Africa’s art scene. On Sundays there’s a Market on Main where, if you’re in the mood to spend some money, you can enjoy food and drink from countries around the world.

Every Saturday, Braamfontein’s Juta Street comes alive by means of the Neighbourgoods Market and its extraordinary offering of food, crafts and home-brewed beer. Who said you had to spend when you’re only window shopping, or rather stall shopping?
Klipriviersberg Nature Reserve
If you aren’t looking for a Saturday spent in the hustle and bustle of Johannesburg, break away to the Klipriviersberg Nature Reserve. There are six hiking trails in this reserve and it’s a great bird-watching location too. If you’re lucky, you might spot a zebra or red hartebeest.

Melville Koppies Nature Reserve
The Melville Koppies Nature Reserve is yet another natural gem situated in Johannesburg where you can take long, early morning strolls through the reserve. Bring a camera, picnic basket and good company and you’ll find you won’t want to leave.
Zoo Lake
Who said there’s something off with having two braais in one weekend? In fact, you can never braai enough. Zoo Lake is another great location full of chill vibes and braai vibes. Fork out some cash for boerewors rolls and your weekend is set to end on a high note.
Bunny Park
The Bunny Park on Johannesburg’s East Rand is the perfect setting for a family outing. Children can feed the rabbits with veggies bought at the kiosk and interact with cows, donkeys and goats.
