Let’s take a sneak peek at some of the attractions to see while travelling to Malawi:
Visit Lake Malawi
Malawi is most famous for its extraordinary lake. Lake Malawi is a beautiful freshwater lake that takes up a large surface area in landlocked Malawi. It is blessed with golden beaches and an incredible colourful variety of fish that makes snorkelling and diving there extremely rewarding.
Head up to
Mulanje Mountain is a huge mountain that is great for hiking and there are plenty of hiking routes to choose from to enjoy this mountain. Once on the mountain you will encounter an abundance of wildlife from the klipspringer, a tiny antelope, to various other small mammals and, of course, a variety of birds.
Although a majority of travellers use Lilongwe as a mere stop on their trip, there are a couple of great things to do here. You can explore the contrast between the old and the new towns, visit the walled market or you can go to the Lilongwe Wildlife Centre, where you get to see orphaned animals and rehabilitated. It’s not a game-viewing destination but it is worth the stop.
Visit Liwonde National Park
The ‘warm heart of Africa,’ Liwonde National Park has been the home of incredible wildlife. Located at the southern tip of Lake Malombe in the south of Malawi, Liwonde National Park is truly a national treasure worth experiencing. It is a must-see attraction for anyone wishing to make the most of their time in the ‘Warm Heart of Africa’.
