Top places to go Easter Egg hunting

 In Citiliner

One thing that excites children and adults alike is the prospect of going on an Easter Egg hunt. Combine this with a lovely picnic outside and you have yourself a lovely Easter holiday there. Some of the staff members of Citiliner have gone on a hunt of their own to find the top places in and around South Africa to go Easter Egg hunting.

Grootvaderbosch – Swellendam

Where better to have an epic Easter egg hunt than the CapeNature forest in the south-western Cape. The variety of trees and plants provide brilliant hiding spots for eggs. Enjoy your holiday in stunning nature, throw something delicious on the braai and go in search of animals or go bird watching.

Lisbon Falls – Mpumalanga

It is said that you will find more waterfalls in this area of Mpumalanga than any other area. From here on you can access other spectacular natural attractions such as God’s Window and the Pinnacle. This is a beautiful location for a picnic and an easter egg hunt with the sound of rushing water in the background.

Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden

There are many botanical gardens around South Africa but none as beautiful as the Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden. Kids can learn about different plant species while they hunt for eggs amongst themed plant gardens. The fresh smell will make you feel livelier and happier.

Table Mountain National Park – Cape Town

Book your family into a lodge or guest house and spend the long weekend exploring all that the iconic Table Mountain National Park has to offer. Apart from Easter egg hunting, there are numerous activities ranging from subdued to extreme. Hide the eggs while on a hike or go tandem paragliding for a total different experience.

So we’ve given you a few ideas on where to go Easter egg hunting but how about doing it a little differently this year? Here are some creative Easter Egg hunting ideas.

  1. If you are willing to take on the extra effort, do it in the form of a scavenger hunt with clues. Have a clue attached to each egg which in the end leads to a big treasure.
  1. Draw a map of the area whereupon you indicate the places where the eggs are hidden.
  1. Leave little bunny footprints leading the kids to some of the places where clues or eggs are hidden. Don’t make it too easy though.
  1. Instead of having chocolate eggs, fill egg shapes with other surprises.
