Celebrate Spring with Citiliner

 In Things to do

It’s time for a new season and new beginnings. How will you celebrate spring this year? Why not hop on board a Citiliner coach and go somewhere special with family or friends? Whether you’re going home, visiting family or leaving on a holiday, we can take you where you need to be.

If you are feeling a bit uninspired, let us share some of the best things to do in three of our favorite destinations, Durban, Bloemfontein and East London in spring this year.

Durban

Wave House: The sunny season is here to visit the Wave House at Galaxy Gateway Theatre of Shopping, rent a board and enjoy. Whether you’re an expert or amateur surfer, the Wave House caters to everyone.

Umgeni River Bird Park: Birds form a big part of our spring picture and there’s no better place to go bird watching than the Umgeni River Bird Park. This park is home to around 180 species of birds and they offer a free-flight bird show to add a note of excitement to your excursion.

Beachfront Skate Park: Listen, you don’t even need to be a skater to enjoy the outdoor chill vibes at the Skate Park in front of the Bay of Plenty. Entrance is free! The Skate Park is also close to the Wave House so it’s a win-win situation we have going here.

Bloemfontein

Freestate National Botanical Gardens: A picnic and gorgeous natural surroundings seem like a good place to start if you are thinking of celebrating spring. Set in a valley, the Freestate National Botanical Gardens is home to over 140 bird species and a 200-year-old olive tree.

Orchid House Arboretum: Thinking of flowers and spring, a visit to the circular orchid house will fit perfectly into your spring plans. Go on a romantic walk with a loved one and enjoy a picnic nearby.

Manguang Rose Festival: If you’re going to be in the City of Roses then you need to mark the Mangaung Rose Festival taking place in October on your calendar. This festival often features a mass flower exhibition and a 22 km fun family cycle race amongst other exciting things.  See more information on this year’s festival here.

East London

Gonubie Beach: Catch some fun in the sun at this gorgeous blue flag beach. Stroll the boardwalk, go kayaking or simply laze about the tidal pools.

Gonubie River: If you’re in the area but not quite in the mood for beach vibes, pack a picnic basket, invite your favorite people and enjoy a picnic beside the Gonubie River. This location is also perfect for bird watching.

Dolphin watching on the Esplanade: Few springtime activities can beat going dolphin spotting on Esplanade Street. Pack a sandwich and bring the binoculars. You need nothing more.
